Bill’s love for music began in the early 60’s but it wasn’t until his parents sat him down one night to watch the Ed Sullivan show and a new band called The Beatles came on. That was it – he was hooked for life. Despite wanting to play drums, his parents settled on a little less noisy instrument, an acoustic guitar and thus began his musical voyage. He is self-taught and loves all kinds of music from Beatles to Steely Dan and Sinatra. Bill's first band was in his senior year in HS and he joined fellow Westchester Wildcats in a rock band called Abalone. In his 20’s he and brother Bob along with Jeff, Andy and Tucker Jackson, all Westchester grads, formed the Frigidaires, a Beatles cover band that won the KBTL Beatles sound alike contest in the 80’s. Since then he’s shared his music passion in several groups including The Works, 8 Track Mind, Pinball Lizard, 5th Avenue, Southern Cross and others! He continues to join good friends and bring good music, fun and fellowship to others.

Wendel was born in Deep East Texas but, as they say ‘round these parts, he got here as quick as he could! Growing up in Houston, he was hooked early on by the swingin’ sounds of the junior high jazz band and gravitated to the drums. After following a long line of ūber-talented drummers through Westbury High School, he went on to Texas A&M where he proudly played in the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. While in college, he also honed his chops in countless classic rock, blues and country bands to help pay the bills.
However, it was after graduation – in the raucous Washington Avenue music scene of the 90’s – where Wendel really “went to school” as a founding member of well-known local acts such as The Generators, Johnny Boy and the Kings, and The 7Soul Providers. It was during this time where he reached what he considers his musical pinnacle – opening for the band Kansas! He also held down the drum chair with 8-Track Mind, Pinball Lizard, and The Party Favors for most of the decade. Since those days, Wendel has been playing with various bands at clubs and festivals across the region.
